A Wall Decoration from Girard's Restaurant Work

Alexander Girard was one of the leading figures in American postwar design — a contemporary of Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson, and a designer who brought warmth, colour, and playfulness to an era dominated by austere modernism. The Metal Wall Reliefs have their origins in decorative elements Girard created for The Compound restaurant in Santa Fe — a commission that gave him free rein to treat every surface as part of a unified whole. Selected in cooperation with the Girard family, the Heart motif is made from powder-coated sheet metal and arrives with all assembly materials included.

Bold in colour and direct in form, the Little Heart Red makes a strong accent on a wall or shelf — alone or grouped with other pieces from the Wall Relief range.
