Børge Mogensen’s J42 is the armchair counterpart to the J41, and it shows the same design philosophy at work: precise proportions, simple horizontal and vertical lines, and a construction that prioritises lasting comfort over ornament. The curved spindle backrest and angular armrests give it a quiet authority, and the solid wood build means it’s made to go the distance. HAY’s relaunch keeps the original proportions intact across a range of oak and beech finishes.

Oak variants are crafted in solid oak with oak veneer seat and backrest. Coloured variants use solid beech with beech veneer throughout, finished in water-based lacquer. All versions are FSCâ„¢-certified.
