Vitra Panton Dining Chair

Vitra Panton Dining Chair

Manufacturer: Vitra | Designer: Verner Panton, 1959

A Chair Cast from a Single Piece of Plastic

Conceived by Verner Panton in 1959 and developed for serial production with Vitra from 1967, the Panton Chair was the first chair to be manufactured as a single piece of plastic — a feat that took decades to realise in its original form. Since 1999 it has been produced as Panton intended: durable, dyed-through polypropylene with a lustrous matt finish.

The cantilevered form and gently flexible material make it genuinely comfortable; the compact, stackable profile makes it easy to live with. Suited to both indoor and outdoor use, it has received numerous international design awards and is represented in the collections of many prominent museums.

Suitable for outdoor use on a temporary or seasonal basis — after prolonged exposure to the elements, clean and store in a dry, sheltered place to ensure lasting use and avoid any deterioration in appearance.

Specifications

  • Dimensions — W50 × D61 × H86cm (seat height 44cm)
  • Material — dyed-through polypropylene, 100% recyclable, matt finish
  • Colours — White, Deep Black, Classic Red, Glacier Blue, Pale Rose, Soft Mint and Bordeaux
  • Outdoor use — suitable for temporary or seasonal outdoor use

Also available in the original polyurethane version as the Vitra Panton Chair Classic, and in child size as the Vitra Panton Junior Chair. Part of the Vitra Panton Chair, Vitra Dining Chairs and Dining Chairs collections.
