The Original Panthella

The Panthella 400 Table Lamp is one of Verner Panton's most recognised designs — a lamp that has remained in continuous production since its introduction in 1971 and shows no signs of dating. Its appeal lies in the relationship between form and light: the hemispherical shade directs light downward onto the trumpet-shaped stem, which reflects it back upward and outward, producing a soft, diffused, glare-free glow that fills a room evenly.

The Design

The 400 is the original and largest of the Panthella table lamps — its 400mm shade giving it a presence that works well on console tables, sideboards, and larger desks. Made entirely in opal white acrylic and white plastic, it has a clean, sculptural quality that sits comfortably in both contemporary and classic interiors. An on-cord switch keeps operation straightforward.
