The Cesca Armchair, in Cane

Marcel Breuer's Cesca Chair brought together tubular steel and woven cane in a cantilevered form that gave the chair a natural flex no four-legged design could match. The armchair version adds beech arm frames to the same construction, offering additional comfort and support without altering the essential character of the design.

Nearly a century on, the Cesca remains in continuous production by Knoll, its proportions and construction unchanged. The KnollStudio logo and Marcel Breuer's signature are stamped into the base of every chair.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: W46 × D58 × H80cm (seat height 45cm)
  • Frame: 25mm diameter round steel tube, epoxy painted in Onyx ultra matte (BX), White ultra matte (91), Dark Red ultra matte (RX), or Chrome
  • Seat, back and arm frames: hardwood beech with natural clear lacquer or black matt painted finish
  • Cane inserts: machine or handwoven natural cane
  • Glides: opaque plastic glides supplied with each chair for optional on-site insertion for use on hard floors; burnished screws and black glides on Onyx and Dark Red structures; galvanised screws and white glides on White structure
