The Egg™ Chair

The Fritz Hansen Egg™ Lounge Chair is one of the defining objects of twentieth-century design. Arne Jacobsen developed the form by hand — shaping wire and plaster models in his garage — until the shell achieved its characteristic enveloping curve. Designed in 1958 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, the Egg™ has remained in continuous production by Fritz Hansen ever since, unchanged in form.

The high, organic shell creates a sense of enclosure and calm — a space within a space — making it equally suited to a private living room or a considered contract interior.

Upholstery & Specification

Available in a choice of fabrics and leathers across six upholstery grades. A matching Egg™ footstool is available in the same base and upholstery options.
