The Original Deck Chair
Originally developed for his private balcony in 1968, Børge Mogensen's BM5568 Deck Chair draws on his background as a cabinetmaker and his admiration for American Shaker and 19th-century English furniture — designs defined by honesty of material and clarity of purpose. Reintroduced by Carl Hansen & Søn, it remains unchanged in spirit.
The angled, reclining frame follows the natural curvature of the body, with slatted FSC™-certified teak shaped for comfort rather than show. Flexible by design — it moves easily to catch the best light, folds flat when not in use, and can be hung on the series' corresponding wall mount as a considered wall display. Includes a loose cushion in weatherproof Sunbrella fabric.
